How the wonderful “Chateau Alpia” in the Sinite Kamani Nature Park is about to become a pin in the lapel of a local oligarch
Everything in this story actually revolves around the local Sliven oligarch Dimitar Batakov and the application submitted by Balkan Residence Ltd for the removal of a plot of 12 decares from the Sinite Kamani Nature Park in Sliven.
On 04.11.2011, Balkan Residence Ltd acquired the Dom Alpia building. Previously, the state had transferred the building to the ownership of BTS-Sliven. Then a joint-stock company managed by the then chairman BTS-Sliven sold the building. The Notary Act of 2011 states the following: “…acquiring a building for the purpose of a Hotel, together with the right to build”, i.e. the buyer inherits the ceded right to build, which the state at the time provided for the land under the building. In fact, the company does not own land after the purchase, as it had until that moment.
The plot itself, which was the object of the appetites of Balkan Residence Ltd, is in the protected area of the Sinite Kamani Nature Park and Natura 2000. The interdepartmental commission convened on January 23, under the Protected Areas Act, voted in favour of the removal of the property from the territory of the park.
