The Norwegian Refugee Council works on the ground
The war in Iran has led to mass internal displacement, deep ideological divisions and severe emotional and financial hardship for families. Millions of people have left urban centres, whilst communication barriers and the trauma they have experienced are straining relationships both within the country and abroad.
Over 3.2 million Iranians (approximately between 600,000 and 1 million households) have been temporarily displaced, leaving major cities such as Tehran and moving to rural areas and the northern provinces, according to the UN Refugee Agency.
