A global slump in investment in education
Education is the most powerful investment that countries can make. It stimulates economic growth, reduces inequalities, strengthens society and creates opportunities that last for generations.
However, education is currently and systematically underfunded.
According to new data from UNESCO, 113 countries — home to 6.1 billion people — currently spend more on defence than on education. At the same time, international aid for education continues to decline.
