Coffee is the second most traded commodity after oil and contributes significantly to the socio-economic development of many developing countries in the tropics, providing the livelihoods of more than 120 million people worldwide, according to World Bank data.
For most coffee-producing countries in the Northern Hemisphere, the 2025 season will begin in October, including in Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua in Central and South America; Ethiopia, Kenya, Ivory Coast in East and West Africa; and Vietnam and India in Southeast Asia.
Brazil accounts for about 39% of world production, followed by Vietnam (17%), Colombia (7%), and Ethiopia and Indonesia (5%) in 2024.
