2024 left half the world at war

In 2025, Trump wants peace but speaks with aggression

There are 195 countries on Earth, and in 2024, 95 of them were involved in wars outside their borders. Conflict in the world reached its highest peak since World War II and tensions in the pot boiled over. 56 active conflicts, 5 of them international. Half the Earth is at war and the rest is trying to contain its anger, keep calm and maintain its standard of living.

The future of Ukraine was the focus of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), which took place just days after the shocking phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which they agreed to start negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.

Describing the conversation earlier this week as “great,” Trump said there was “a good opportunity to end this terrible, very bloody war.”

European allies seemed taken aback by the nature of the call, with French President Emmanuel Macron warning that “any peace agreement that involves capitulation to Russia will end “badly for everyone“. Europe is not yet in a panic over this development, but it is close to a state of anxiety.
