Bulgaria can still be a dream country

Bulgaria can still be a dream country

The key is sustainable innovation

Imagine a place where the morning begins with the scent of roses in the Valley of Roses, the afternoon meets ancient mysteries in a Thracian tomb, and the evening ends with a breathtaking view from Mount Musala. Sounds like a fairy tale, doesn’t it? And yet, this place is real. This place is Bulgaria.

But then why do we so often fail to see our country as that magical place that can captivate both us and the world? As a tourism professor, I often ask myself: how does a tourist see Bulgaria? What draws him here? And more importantly – what makes him come back? Tourism is the window through which the world looks at us. And Bulgaria has every chance to be not just one of many destinations, but a country of dreams.

I have believed in this dream since I was a schoolgirl. I graduated from the German High School in 1997 – one of the years with the worst economic crisis in our recent history.
