China and the US are watching closely
Two weeks ago, a terrorist group opened fire on tourists in Kashmir and killed at least 26 people. The beautiful mountainous disputed Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir is ruled simultaneously by India and Pakistan. Conflicts there are frequent, but not attacks on civilians. Kashmir is fully claimed by both India and Pakistan, but each administers it only partially since they were separated after independence from Britain in 1947. They fought two wars over it. Are they entering a third?
Various countries and diplomats around the world are trying to stop the escalation of the current situation. China and the US are watching ever more closely.
