A Bulgarian city has taken a leap into the future
The website of the Municipality of Burgas greets you with a few warm words: “Burgas has always attracted people with its sense of freedom. A city of brave dreamers who leave their mark. A city which never runs out of energy. A city which loves movement, lives passionately with its stormy sea and sunkissed memories along the coast” – a message from Dimitar Nikolov, Mayor of Burgas Municipality since 2007 . Interesting things are starting to happen with the city – dynamic development, exemplary sustainability, avant-garde architecture, renewal of infrastructure, rapid development of tourism and the economy. These interesting things are accessible on a separate website “Smart Burgas”, also known as “Burgas Municipality under Development. It is a long-awaited Bulgarian example of transparency, accountability and clear visibility of planned projects and investments. So… Burgas has a long-term strategy and dedicated team. Burgas is investing. Burgas is listening to its citizens and business. Burgas is communicating its problems and looking for solutions. Burgas is working with universities.
