Park Watch – the observations of a Sofia resident who no longer parks but walks in the parks

All the time carefully observing who is creating or destroying what

Founded by the legendary Mayor Engineer Ivan Ivanov in 1939, today it is a humiliation for us all. For 20 years, the municipality has not discovered a way to attract the residents of Sofia to come back here – if not as a bathing pool, then at least as a curated space. The joint venture, established in 2003 between Sofia Municipality and Rumen Gaitanski – Wolf (majority owner with 58%) for the management of two properties within Borisova Gradina, has created an irresolvable case, redolent of corruption. The Bathing Pool and the Summer Theatre are privately owned according to the 2022 Detailed Development Plan for the park, which exacerbated the problem. However, other fenced-off and covered spaces remain like ugly spots in the garden.

Who is their owner and what is hidden under the covers and behind the fences?
