Where are the missing 20,000 kids from the class of 2025?
These days, the 12th graders are taking their exams. Graduating class of children born in 2006. This year 74 495 children were born in Bulgaria, of which 73 978 or 99.3 percent were live births.
Today, however, about 50 000 children have entered the baccalaureate in Bulgarian language and literature. We asked ourselves what happened to the remaining 23 000 of the 73 000 born in the class of 2006?
The number is too large to assume that they have all dropped out, had early marriages, gone abroad, died. 20 000 are missing… or has the street taken them over?
