Euronomics full ahead!
Today, 8 July, the European Parliament (EP) decides whether Bulgaria is ready to become a full member of the euro area on 1 January 2026.
The vote will start around 13:00 Bulgarian time, with a simple majority needed to pass the decision.
A final decision will be taken by the finance ministers of the 27 EU member states during a meeting of the European Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) at 16:00 Bulgarian time.
In Brussels, they are already informally congratulating Bulgaria on its long-awaited accession.
